Paper 3

I have found paper 3 to be very difficult to write. For my project, there's a lot of ways that the musicians dress and circling in on one type of dress is hard to do. There are many genres in heavy metal and alot of the different genres dress different ways. The other thing I;m finding it difficult to do is make the glossary. Being a part of the heavy metal scene myself, I'm finding it a little hard to distance myself and take an outsiders view on the subject. We will definitely see how this turns out. Hopefully it turns out to be a great paper.

So.....

My weekend was pretty awesome. My band played a show in O'Fallon, Missouri, at a Halloween house party. We played pretty good and, all in all, it was a good night....up until about 4'oclock on Sunday morning. Two guys decided to come up and crash the party, jumping every guy there. At the end of the night, the cops were called & my lead singer and best friend ended up in the hospital. So I really didn't get much done with my project this weekend.

My weekend ....

Was pretty awesome. I went and saw Season's After, Dismiss the Chosen, At Night We Sleep, Leveld and Blood of Heroes at the V in Red Bud on Saturday night. Let me just say that it was the most awesome show I have seen in a long time. Seeing a national act with someone from the Sparta area in it made me realize that the music scene around here isn't dead and that, if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything. Whether it take a year or ten years, stick with your guns and go with it because you may never have another chance in life to pursue what really makes you happy. I'm done for now.

The Band that Rocked my Face Off this Weekend

So.....

Besides my car breaking down on my way to class on Monday, my week's gone pretty good. My band has a gig on October 16th at a Halloween party in Ofallon, Missouri, with Sicfaist and my project's coming along pretty good. I have a bunch of people lined up for interviews ranging from death metal vocalists to concert promoters. I also have tickets to some of the upcoming Sunday Night Local Shows at Pop's in Sauget, Illinois, and I have been given permission to tour the club with the owner which is pretty cool. Aside from that I don't think I have anything else to say. So, until next time, deuces!!!!

My Fav Metal Song (As of Right Now)

Letter to the Class

The subject that I would like to do for my project is the local metal music scene in the St. Louis Area. For the last six years I have been part of this scene and I believe there is a lot of things with this group that people have to learn. People today only see what goes on with the last part of the show, when the bands get up on the stage and show you what they've got. What I hope to do with this project is show you what goes on before, during and after the shows. I plan to get tons of interviews with the musicians and people involved with the shows that I have come to know over the last six years and let you in on the little tricks and secrets that happen with the venues and just how they get the bands to sound so perfect. The process isn't as pretty as some of you may think. There is a lot of information out there and I hope, with your permission, I can look into this group and show you just how awesome it is.

BLAH

Wow. I never thought that I would stoop to the level of a blogger but, because of my ENG 102 class, here I am. So here’s my first post. I’m a drummer in a heavy metal band called Outcome of Betrayal. We just recently got our full lineup together which is pretty exciting and we’re working on getting everything caught up to speed so we can get out there and show the St. Louis area what we’re made of. Our style could be characterized as “metalcore”, but I don’t like to put any labels on things. We’re our own band hands down. We sound like five musicians putting their musical talents together for people to hear and appreciate. That’s it. I mean if I had to name some bands we sounded like, I’d have to say that we sound most like a mix between As I Lay Dying and All That Remains, both of which I absolutely dig. Me as a person, I listen to everything. I don’t hate against music. In my opinion, music is music and if a band of musicians is putting themselves out there for everyone to hear, I’m going to at least give them the benefit of the doubt and listen to them. Mostly I listen to hard rock, heavy metal and of all things country. Who woulda thunk it?!? Well that’s it for my first post. Talk to you later!
